Education Reform in Kuwait: Doing It Differently

This event brings together representatives of the Government of Kuwait and World Bank experts to share experiences from the Kuwait reform and exchange views on global experiences. Watch the lives discussion on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 10:30 am EST.

  • A presentation on the reform program by H. E Dr. Bader Al Essa, Minister of Education, Government of Kuwait
  • A panel discussion convened featuring three World Bank Education Practice Managers
  • A question and answer session featuring H. E Dr. Bader Al Essa, the three panel members, and the Amit Dar, the World Bank’s Director of Strategy and Operations for the Human Development Practice
Background
 

In 2010, the Government of Kuwait, in partnership with the World Bank, launched a bold, systemic reform of its education system. The reform encompasses the introduction of a competence-based curriculum across general education; developing a conducive environment for effective teaching; enabling schools to be active centres of learning; strengthening systems for enhanced accountability and evidence-based decision-making.
