أدت الزيادة السكانية والتوسع العمراني في الأراضي الفلسطينية إلى زيادة إنتاج النفايات، حيث يزيد نصيب الفرد من إنتاج النفايات الصلبة عن المتوسط العالمي. وتُجبر معظم مكبات النفايات الصحية بالفعل على العمل بأكبر من طاقتها الاستيعابية، وسيتفاقم الوضع إذا استمر الاتجاه الحالي دون بذل أي جهد لإعادة تدوير النفايات ومعالجتها قبل التخلص منها. ويعرض هذا الفيديو إجراءً تدخلياً ناجحاً من جانب البنك الدولي والمانحين في غزة ويعود بالنفع على نحو مليون مواطن، كما أنه يوصي باتباع نهجٍ أكثر شمولاً لإدارة النفايات عبر سلسة الخدمات الخاصة بالنفايات الصلبة بأكملها.
